Eco-Conservation Efforts
DHF has a mission to combat the problems by providing environmental educations to communities and encouraging the use of environmental friendly cooking energy to save our planet.
Our environment greatly gets affected by human activities which result in detrimental effects on nature. Some of the activities that destroy the environment are for instance domestic cooking fuel which requires use of charcoal and fire wood. Cutting down of trees for charcoal production and firewood accounts for more than 91% of the total energy used in Tanzania. Only in 2009 we realized that solid dry biomass fuels can be burned so cleanly in small, residential-sized cook stoves that they can compete in the urban markets for domestic energy. The fuel is primarily wood but also agro-waste-pellets made from rice husks, coffee husk, sugarcane bagasse and straw etc, depending on the local conditions. This typically requires some simple processing such as cutting, drying and compression. Only recently it is understood that Charcoal is not only energy inefficient, but also both the production and consumption emits vast amounts of Green House Gases (GHG). DHF invites individuals/professionals/companies and organizations to help in the project of briquette productions and solar energy in order to reduce the negative impact on environments. Project focuses on ensure sustainable tree nurseries, planting trees in the communities and Institutions, habitat improvement and proper farming method.
